Per-hour billing with no minimum contract, ISO 27001 / ISO 9001 Data Centre, scale from one to hundreds of Windows, Linux or Solaris servers in a few minutes and all backed by comprehensive Service Level Agreements
Lochristi,Belgium - July 24th, 2009 - [PR2WEB] A-Server, a specialist in Cloud Computing, has announced SymetriQ as the first European service provider customer for its Cloud Computing platform DAAS.com (Datacenter-as-a-Service). SymetriQ will launch its Enterprise Public Cloud in August from a Data Centre near London offering a fully scalable Cloud Computing platform aimed at enterprise customers who require higher level service agreements and greater flexibility than currently offered by "consumer" clouds such as Amazon, GoGrid and FlexiScale.
The SymetriQ Public Enterprise Cloud is built on A-Server
technology giving end users complete control over processing power and
provisioning of storage capacity, allowing them to create and implement virtual
firewalls, encryption devices, manage internal and external IP addresses and all
of this through a dynamic Flash interface.
"A-Server provides us with a solid
framework to allow us to deliver a Cloud Computing infrastructure suitable for
enterprise customers who demand reliability, performance and the ability to
quickly scale," comments Phillip Huber, MD and Co-Founder of SymetriQ. "We
talked to potential customers and many liked the idea of Cloud Computing but
were dismayed by the current lack of worthwhile Service Level Agreements. Also
there are still fears over the security of the data centre where potentially
critical applications and sensitive data would be housed."
In response to
these concerns, the SymetriQ Enterprise Cloud is housed in an ISO27001 and ISO
9001 certified data centre. In addition, the service provides automatic data
backups that are fully end-user manageable. Although a public service, clients
will be seeing levels of services and underlying technology that they would
expect from an Enterprise partner. The entire service is backed up by an
enterprise class SLA, which covers availability.
Huber, formerly part of the
management team at FlexiScale, believes that another key differentiator is true
flexibility. "We use a drag and drop provisioning system and custom written
billing engine that allows clients to deploy a private data centre quickly and
then charge them by the hour," he explains. "There are no long term contracts,
you can use our cloud in one hour increments while long term data storage
charges are only a few pence per gigabyte per month - we only charge clients
when they use the resources like a true utility."
A-Server provided and
installed pre-certified SUN based hardware and its Q-layer based Cloud computing
technology for SymetriQ in early July. The platform is currently going through a
final stress test ahead of a Beta launch scheduled for early August. At launch,
the service will offer around 20 pre-configured application and operating system
images within the drag and drop configuration system with an expanded range to
follow quickly, mostly driven by SymetriQ's partners.
"Our partnership with
SymetriQ has allowed them to go from proof of concept to fu
lly operational Cloud
platform in just under eight weeks," comments Arvid Fossen, Director of Product
Management and Marketing for A-Server. "The A-server technology platform is
helping service providers enter the Cloud Computing market with a credible and
certified offering based on industry standard SUN hardware backed by our
technical expertise which has been developing this technology for the last three
years."
A-Server, which offers its Cloud computing platform under the Datacenter As A Service (DAAS.com) brand, will be announcing a number of additional European service providers who have adopted its cloud-computing platform over the next few months.
